Pesticides and Homeopathy by Pam Nori

This article explores how Homeopathic remedies can help with the toxic effects created by pesticides in our foods once they have been ingested. One of the latest reports on pesticides in our foods came from the Environmental Working Group, a U.S. research and advocacy organization. See http://www.ewg.org/foodnews/summary.php.

They found that the lowest level of pesticides were found in avocado, corn and pineapple. The potatoe had more pesticides by weight than any other fruit or vegetable. One grape contained 15 pesticides. The imported nectarines and apples tested had at least one pesticide. Celery, cherry tomatoes, imported snap peas and strawberies tested for 13 different pesticides. Kale and collard greens were found to have insecticides that are toxic to our nervous systems. Pesticides are know to cause health problems such as birth defects, neurological problems, leukemia, cancer and other diseases. Organic foods would be a better choice however, the organic foods are expensive. The french fries at fast food outlets not only have alot of sodium and are fried, they now have a bad rap of possibly containing 13 or more pesticides because of the pesticides they found in potatoes.

Homeopathic remedies were developed over 200 years ago and most pesticides were developed after the 1950s and their use has increased 50 fold. So the connection between the pesticides and certain remedies that could be useful for them was not made in the homeopathic materia medicas. There are remedies which are commonly used for heavy metal toxicity such as mercurius for mercury poisoning, argentum nitricum for silver toxicity, alumina for aluminum toxicity, arsenicum album for arsenic toxicity, plumbum metallicum for lead poisoning and tabacum and cadmium sulfuratum for cirgarette smoking. In 2013, the FDA found inorganic arsenic in the rice that was grown in the old cotton fields in the southern U.S. Arsenic was used as a pesticide in the cotton fields and the soil was contaminated. See http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/09/06arsenic-rice/2771903/ . (The photo at the top of this page is of Oryza sativa-rice.)

There are no Homeopathic remedies that are known to specifically chelate pesticides such as chlorinated cyclodiene, carbamate, and organochlorine pesticides (DDT) from the body. However, there are remedies that can help detox the body by supporting the liver and immune system to rid the body of these toxins. Some of the pesticides can create symptoms of dizzyness, nausea, severe headaches, tremors, loss of memory and over the long term health problems which were mentioned above. Certain homeopathic remedies can help chelate pesticides from the body and these would be chosen based on the symptoms that have developed in the individual rather than on the type of pesticide an individual has been exposed to.
